Frequently Asked Questions About ABA Therapy & Our Autism Treatment Center

Choosing the right support for your child is a big decision, and we’re here to help. Below are answers to common questions about our autism treatment center, ABA therapy services, and how we support families throughout Stamford, Greenwich, Norwalk, and Westport, CT.

What is ABA Therapy?

ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) is a research-based approach that helps children with autism build important life skills such as communication, social interaction, and daily living skills. Programs are personalized based on your child’s strengths and needs, using assessments to create measurable goals.

How does ABA therapy help children with autism?

ABA therapy focuses on teaching positive behaviors and reducing challenging ones by using reinforcement and structured learning techniques. It helps children improve communication, independence, and overall quality of life.

What is center-based ABA therapy?

Center-based ABA therapy takes place in a structured clinical setting designed to promote learning, social interaction, and skill development. This environment allows children to practice skills with peers and benefit from a consistent routine.

What is home-based ABA therapy?

Home-based ABA therapy brings services directly to your home, allowing children to learn in a familiar environment. This approach is especially helpful for building everyday life skills and supporting real-life routines.

How do I choose between center-based and home-based ABA therapy?

Both center-based ABA therapy and home-based ABA therapy offer valuable benefits. Our team works with you to determine the best option based on your child’s goals, learning style, and family needs, ensuring a personalized approach to care.

How do I begin child autism services at The SEED Center?

Getting started is simple. We begin with an initial consultation, followed by a comprehensive assessment to understand your child’s needs. From there, we develop a customized ABA therapy plan and guide you through every step of the process.

What does the assessment process involve?

Our assessment process is a detailed, multi-step approach designed to fully understand your child’s unique needs. Once insurance authorization is received, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts the assessment. This includes an initial intake meeting to gather background information, followed by 2–4 hours of direct evaluation with your child (typically across two sessions).

The BCBA then spends additional time scoring results, developing a personalized treatment plan, and creating your child’s ABA therapy program. Finally, we hold a feedback meeting with you to review the results, discuss recommendations, and plan next steps for services. This thorough process ensures each client receives individualized child autism services with clear goals and a tailored path forward.

Does insurance cover ABA therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for ABA therapy as part of child autism services. Our team can help you understand your benefits and guide you through the process to make accessing care as smooth as possible. Visit our insurance page to learn more.

How do you support families throughout the process?

We believe in building strong partnerships with families. From your first consultation through ongoing therapy, we provide guidance, communication, and support to ensure you feel confident and involved in your child’s progress.
